Load up on herbs… Stay warm from the inside…
Hi lovelies, I hope you are having a great day. I would love to share a little about cinnamon - and loading up on herbs.
As the temperatures begin to dip this week, its a great time to start creating warmth from the inside with warming teas and spices. This is a lovely recipe inspired by Himalayan Ayurveda - I'm sure you will have these easy ingredients in your cupboards.
Cinnamon is a warming spice that’s highly beneficial during the vata season, which in Ayurveda is typically marked by colder, drier, and windier conditions.
With its sweet, slightly pungent flavour, cinnamon stimulates circulation and promotes internal warmth, helping to balance the cool, airy qualities of vata. It’s especially helpful for improving digestion, reducing excess wind in the belly, and easing any aches and pains that may come with the season’s chill.
You can also take a teaspoon of organic ceylon cinnamon each day, mixed into honey or I take mine in my Cacao each morning or sip on a flask of this lovely warming tea through the day.
Herbal Tea Blend Recipe with Cinnamon, Clove, and Ginger
This warming tea blend is perfect for promoting circulation and comforting the body on cooler days. Here’s a simple recipe:
Ingredients
1 cinnamon stick (or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
3–4 whole cloves
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced (or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger)
2 cups water
Optional: a slice of orange or a bit of honey for sweetness
Instructions
In a small pot, bring the water to a boil.
Add the cinnamon, cloves, and ginger to the water. Lower the heat to a simmer and let it steep for 10–15 minutes.
Strain the tea into a mug. Add honey or a slice of orange for extra flavour and Vit C.
Enjoy warm, sipping slowly to allow the spices to create a warming effect throughout your body.
This tea is ideal for warming the body from the inside out, soothing digestion, and bringing a sense of grounding warmth during the colder, vata-dominant months.
Stay warm lovelies xx
